So after venturing into programming, I decided I had learned enough to make a slightly appealing text-based game. However, I don't know what to make the story, or how you play it. This is where you come in. You can give me ideas, and maybe I will incorporate them. Everyone who gives ideas gets a shoutout in my game when it's released. I'll use your forum names.
Popular Genres: Space: Alien World Space Exploration Quest Fantasy: Dungeon Treasure Quest Lost World (Temples, Ruins of Civilizations) Steampunk: Aquatic Underwater World Flying Civilization Mountain Side City Simulation: War Simulation using basic commands
I've decided a few details about the game: The title is world() It's about a programmer who tries to stop a rogue world that has been corrupted with a dangerous virus. Yes, the world is a computer simulation. (Matrix, anyone?) So, I still need to get the story underway, but I got the base details down. Here's the code so far: print "world() by @SahibdeepNann" Progress!
Maybe you could have the entire game be played on a monitor? Like, you're just behind a computer the entire game. In the game. That's weird to say about a video game, but i hope you get the idea.
Well unless his loved one is in the computer world that makes no sense, because that computer world wouldn't affect the real world.
Actually, the computer virus is infecting the real world, as it is run by a computer. Let's say you went onto this computer (or the code of the virus) and typed "deleteSpecies.human" That would wipe out all of the human race.
A computer virus would have no affect on the real world aside from computers. It might be able to wipe out technology, but not the human race.
If you want some inspiration i've spent a lot of time playing a dark room: http://adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com/ very fun text based game where you slowly build up a village and survive, and a short one i played once and found quite interesting is you find yourself in a room http://www.kongregate.com/games/2darray/you-find-yourself-in-a-room which is weird, creepy, surreal and very very dark and about a computer so it fits your theme
Well, this isn't realistic. xD The world IS a computer, so if it was infected with a virus, the virus would be able to control the world. Not just all the computers in the world, but everything in the world. It may seem surreal, but it is actually quite an interesting idea.
