The other day in survival a player asked if we had a Team Speak, we don't even though nat did plan on getting one. I then started to talk about a better chat client called Discord and then Lego said he would set up an unofficial one which he has done. What's discord? Discord is a free to use voice and text base client that takes the great things TeamSpeak has (IP Protection, Low latency, Permissions, Multiple channels, Individual volumes control) with the great stuff of Skype (Free, Free mobile app, Browser support, Modern text chat) and adds some more nice features such as DDoS protection. Current participants have to send links out to everyone by invite via the instant invite tab. The tab is right next to the gear on the same line as the channel name, it looks like an open top box with an arrow pointing out of it. Copying and pasting the link provided in the pop-up text box gives instant access to the channel. The links expire in a reasonable amount of time as to not cause system issues. It is, let me know if you want to join in if you haven't already. You can use the conversation system on the forums in case I'm not online, or ask someone who does have access to msg you the link.
Unfortunately I the link you posted I think expires/or has expired to the specific channel. I have to do more research into how I can set up a better static link. Also Discord can be used in browsers as well as in the app, so any invite will apply to both app and browser based systems. EDIT: Figured it out. yeah I did set it to never, the first link that green tried to use wasn't an invite link I just clicked on my link and it still does work
Just out of pure curiosity, do people use this currently? I've been inactive and now that I'm back, I'm thinking it'd probably be something I'd consider downloading if I knew it was for a purpose before I did.
Well it exists but it's not used very often apart from making jokes about how little it's used, sadly.
The program doesn't give an option to delete entire channels. With that it will stay there if anyone does happen to want to use it, plus hosting is free so it doesn't matter much.
