I wanted to share with you guys a picture of the wood generator that I built in Trollsylvania. It makes a solid chunk of wood up to 9 x 13 x 8 that can easily and quickly be mined as if you were mining stone or the like and also will keep you supplied with apples and sapplings. The concept is not my own and credit belongs to JL2579 (I think that's right), but figuring out how to actually build it and get it working took some doing. I hope you like it!
yeah i seen it on youtube. its neat but in all honesty you yield a far higher log per minute with a good tree farm
This IS just a big waste of time....you can get tons of wood, if you got a good tree farm, or if the town/village/city has one. I personaly can get about 4 double chests of wood in less than 15 mins with my wood farm. (Ofc, with super pick)
4 double of logs in 15 minutes is impressive even with good farm and SP. takes me far longer than that to gather up that much. Not sure how thats possible but ill believe you Though i agree, a tree farm is by far the better way to go for efficiency and ease.
I made it so only small trees can grow. if i just charge and SP through it, ill get that number fast. I can use it, but I use it once in a week, cause to chunks, that arent active while im not on.
yes, any good tree farm only grows small trees Most people do that. Let put this in math for you, 4 doubles = 216 stacks. 216 stacks of logs = 13,824 logs. 15 minutes = 900 seconds. which means if you say your gathering 13,824 logs per 15 minutes you have to be gathering 15.36 logs per second. Now I dont know about you but I personally see that a bit hard to accomplish even with a superpick when hacking through small trees with leaves lol
Mmm, sorry fellas, but unless you can beat math, it isn't possible that you have a more efficient 'natural' tree farm. This machine is built for efficiency. It produces a solid 9 wide, 12 long, and up to 8 high block of wood. It will produce up to 864 logs twice (1,728 logs) in the time that it takes your tree farm to grow naturally (based on the average 30 minute tree growth - Minecraft Wiki). Leaf removal isn't a concern as it is handled by the machine. Saplings are also gathered (about 1 per tree) by the machine, insuring that you won't run out. As are apples. Harvesting the solid block takes minutes with a super pick as you do not have to travel from tree to tree, but instead just walk sideways. You would mine it as if it were a mountainside. You also do not have to travel around to replant each tree. Also add in that it's overall footprint takes up an area of only 20 x 23 blocks, and you will see easily that you can not have more efficiency. If you grew only small trees ( 4 or 5 blocks high) in a configuration considered by many to be the most 'efficient' taking up an area 16x7 and growing 94 trees, you would still only yield about half of this machines capabilities.
Now i assume eightnine that with this machine you have to stand there- plant sappling- use bonemeal to instant grow- let pistons do their magic- repeat. You need to take into account that the time your standing there planting and growing those trees to make that brick of logs a person in a efficient tree farm is already well on their way in gathering logs. And yes while yours may be compact I for one care not for that, in fact my tree farm is 75x75x200+ a multi-floor giant of a building containing floors of every type of tree and farm. I guarentee you I could out gather your machine any day and with any type of tree and im more than willing to do a timed wood chopping duel with you to show you just how much more you can get with a good tree farm vs this machine if you really want to. Also in reference to your comment of having to wait for the trees to grow, with a large tree farm you dont. By the time your done replanting the sapplings 75% of the farm has already grown back, and if you got a tree farm the size of mine its not really an issue as to waiting ;-)
Sounds like we're going to have ourselves a good 'ol logging competition! Should be a good time. The rules I propose: 1. 1 Diamond axe with no modifiers. 2. No potions. 3. Regular log saplings (oaks) 4. Each will get one stack of saplings. 5. Timer starts with the planting of the first sapling and ends with the harvesting of the last log. 6. Oh, and no super pick as I don't have one. Sound good? Or, we could do it on a time limit instead. However many logs you can harvest say, in thirty minutes. But as most of your trees would not have even grown in that time...
why would i start with an empty tree farm? thats like me saying you need to start with the machine deconstructed. and why would I only get 1 diamond axe? seems to me like your making rules around which you get the advantage and the point is collecting the most amount of logs in a set time. not having a set amount of logs... you have a set amount of saplings that is a set amount of logs that you can possibly get and since a good tree farm only makes small trees you are again designing it around your machine to have the advantage. Please sir make an honest contest *p.s.* You are again standing on what you consider to be a "fact" as to how long sapling take to grow... they take only a few minutes. as to why you keep saying they each take 30 minutes to grow is beyond me, how about you plant a stack of sapling and see how many of them have grow by the end of that stack, you will be surprised...
Why would you start with an empty farm? Because you're claiming that you are getting more logs for a set amount of time and effort than you are putting into your farm versus how many I would get out of mine. (efficiency: Achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense.) Limiting the amount of saplings further illustrates my machine's advantage over yours: mine grows only large trees and yours is restricted to only small trees and returns saplings to me instantly which allows me to plant more. To have you start with your farm already grown would be like me joining a race two miles later than the other cars. The point is, yes, you could have a thirty floor mega tower designed for the purpose of growing a large number of trees, but no, it will not out produce this machine for the same amount of effort simply because you have to go through and plant them first, wait and then go back through and harvest them. I'm trying to get across that this is wood-on-demand. Minimal effort, minimal space requirements and a maximum yield. You need some freakin' wood? Bam, baby and then some. The 30 minute thing isn't a fact. It's based off of an average growing time for an average tree as the folks of Minecraft Wiki have found it to be.
