Hey Everyone! Ok, so for a while now, I've been saving up . I currently have 1,700 USD (1200.64 Euros), and I want to use it to buy a computer, as the one I currently use is oldish, and I only get like 30 FPS with the most bearable minecraft video settings.... So Originally, I wanted this computer: http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC975LL/A But with a 2.6GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7 Processor. That is a total cost of 2,300 USD. But after checking the iMacs, I realized what I could get for that much money! Though all the different macs were appealing, I narrowed it down to just these: http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MD093LL/A & http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MD095LL/A By Now, you guys are probably realizing I haven't put any Windows computers on here... The reason being I HATE Windows 8, I don't feel it worth it to Dual Boot Windows 7 on it, cuz that's like having a Portal 2 mod that makes the game Portal 1. What I Plan to do with the Computer: Well, the first thing I'm gonna do with it is Dual Boot Windows 7, because I plan to do some Gaming with it, and besides Linux, Windows supports the most games. But don't get me wrong! I'm not planing to do A TON of Gaming on it, I want good FPS (idk, is 150 Fps Possible?) on Minecraft, and I plan to play Elder Scrolls Online when it come out. I recently began working with Java Script, I really like it. I hope to make some Minecraft mods, as well as simple games... Thanks for Reading! Do not get the retina Macbook, not worth it, my 2010 macbook pro 13" has been amazing so far but I think today's macbooks have a different graphic card. I'd recommend to build a computer like exavious did! with that ammount of money you should be good to go
I suggest you get a computer friend to help you choose custom ones and build it together. Computers in stores are overpriced.
You can build your own gaming computer (if you want one) from AlienWare. They can cost more than 6,000 USD. It just depends on what you get. I am aiming to get one from Alienware
Get the retina MBP...you can game anywhere you are. Have you ever thought you might want to play minecraft at a friends house or something? The MBP goes anywhere but you can't take the desktop. Any of the other MBPs would be fine too because in my opinion the retinas are too expensive. Although you can get some of the apple refurbished macbook pros for a lot cheaper with a lot better specs. You may be hesitant to buy a used computer, but Apple refurbishing is really good; they put basically all new parts on the computer so it is just like new you will never know it has been used before - http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/macbook_pro Even if you have the money for the retina, it might be a good deal for you, but keep in mind it has no CD drive
Hmmm, building a computer doesn't seem like that bad of an idea, But then again, I know for sure that of my friends I'm the only one who would possibly even have the slightest bit of an idea on how to build a computer - Most of them freak out if even their internet goes down.... So even though building a computer would be the best idea, I don't really feel like spending tons of time looking up how to build one.... Also, I can be the Shit if i have a Mac >! Maybe in the future, mind if I ask some of the specs & stuff of that computer?

Hmmm, Yah, I agree, the Retina Display Macbook is out of the question..... Lol, When you told me in-game to buy a refurbished one, I thought you meant through like Ebay, But through Apple should be safe . I see your point with taking it to friend's houses and stuff, but a second ago, I did a side by side comparison, the Mac fro 1800 USD is Faaarrr better than the the Macbook that is 1800 USD - But that's not talking about refurbished iMacs/Macbooks. Anyways, lots of people are talking about building my own. I'm not too hot about making one myself... I realize with 1700 USD, A VERY nice computer could be made...But thing is, and I know how stupid this sounds, imo, I think people would be more 'Wowed' with a Mac as apposed to a custom computer....
after reading that I have to ask... Are you building this for you, or for them? Who the hell cares if they are "wowed". If your just wanting to buy some overpriced eye candy for your friends then by all means... go ahead. If you want to get the most out of your money, and put together a quality computer where you pick each part out and can easily upgrade it in a few years instead of buying a completely new one again to wow your friend... build it yourself. and just FYI some of the coolest looking Computers out there are custom made.
Our engineering professors are so self-absorbed they didn't tell us about this. I found out the first day of class. "We don't think our software is compatible with macs"... BS. I spent just as much on a windows laptop and probably upwards of 500 more after all the dang repairs. 80% of the department students were just boot camp'ing it and doing just as good if not better than me.
Build your own! spend 800 to 900 on the tower = 3+ghz quad or 8 core processor and 16 gb of ram EASY. That includes a good graphics card and all you need minus peripherals. Spend 500 on a nice 27" monitor that doubles as a tv. Why? get 2 250GB drives, one for windows and the other for linux. get an HDradeon 3850. go with either an AMD phenom II x4 or intel I-7 8GBs ram. any other hard drives you want. a monitor if you dont have one. i found a bangin case for under 100. a decent 600-700Watt PSU. and a decent mobo for 75-150. no sense is spending $$$ for something you wont play many games on.
SN. cousin has a C2D@ 3.0GHz and runs the same vid card I posted up, and on far he getts about 150-200
I thought building your own computer meant configuring the specs on the computer manufacturers website, not actually assembling this thing on your own, lol.
I really don't wanna build my own computer unless I can see, in every aspect, is better than the 27" iMac.... See - I like the Mac itself, the app store as well as the slim look of it. I realize I could save 800+ building my own, But it's just I really like the feel of the Mac.... No, I'm not saying building my own is out of the question, It's just I don't want to use it primary for gaming.... Ugg! Half of me wants the iMac/Macbook soooo bad, but the other side knows It'd be smarter to build a custom... :/ On a side note: Does anyone know if the 27" iMac could handle Skyrim?
