I know but after watching to documentaries on mojang it's obvious Notch really does not care about money at all, and it doesn't seem like he'd ever give away his company... BUT 2 billion dollars probably tempted him a little too much haha

This game seems like it is turning into a classic like Tetris, but would you pay 2Billion dollars for the rights to Tetris.

I realise that, it's unlikely that it will not work at all on Linux, (plus that would be terrible PR for Microsoft) but any future games not programmed in java would likely never be ported to Linux, (but since Minecraft is the only game from mojang I play I guess it's no big deal.)

Other problems I would have with it is simply that Microsoft is even less likely to actually care what people want (modding API, etc.) then Mojang

Tetris, Wii Sports and Minecraft are the three best selling games of all time.. And in my opinion Minecraft is the only one worth anything :p

I would like to say that Markus Persson would never sell his prize gem creation, and he does not seem to be the kind of developer to do so... but it is microsoft we are talking about, they can throw a lot of money and influence at what they want. If microsoft really wants it bad, Markus is going to have a hard time saying no i think. Not that I think it would necessarily be bad for Microsoft to acquire minecraft, who knows what they could do with it. Could be they ruin it, could be they catapult it even higher.
