So E3 is happening, great! Well, who do you think will be the best in sales, happy people, and more! Basically All of the companies (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) are debuting games for the consoles, some are exclusive ONLY for that brand basically. To me, I believe Microsoft (Xbox) will take it because they shown a couple of great games that I'd love to have and secondly, with what they had to offer, their sales will go UP.
Doesn't matter who "won" because it will be different to everyone. Microsoft fans things xbon won, sony fans thought sony won etc. All that we need to agree on is that E3 was great because they all showed of games and not just TV... anyway if I had to pick it would be sony because they didn't just show off 1 game that I would like that show off so many that I nearly confidence my self to buy a ps4
The Halo Master Chief Collection will be one of the best selling games of all time and change the whole next gen "battle"
I didn't vote because I don't think either sony or microsoft will "win" (nintendo is a different story, they seem to be grasping at straws and not playing on their strengths lately.) Here's how I feel, there are games coming out for both ps4 and xbox one that I will definitely be buying. I don't see either one as having won or lost, because I'm simply not a fanboy.
To be honest, I stopped being a console gamer long ago.. when the standard price for every single game was $60 a pop no matter the quality. I have since then migrated to PC gaming and honestly can't see myself going back to consoles. Many of the console games will get either a pc version or be ported over to pc at some point, and the ones that don't well.. *shrug* guess they didn't want my money that much. So I can't fairly vote which one I think won, I can say that xbox regardless of E3 will do very well for itself.
I will likely always be a console person since I don't like messing with pc parts or upgrading, and I refuse to run windows as my main OS. Aside from that I just love the feeling of a controller in my hands, and sitting on a nice comfy couch rather than a chair which gets more uncomfortable the longer I sit in it. Also, if you're serious about gaming, you're probably spending just as much on PC parts as you would on games for consoles.
So, just to respond to 2 things in your post. Firstly, the feel of a controller has nothing to do with console vs PC. If you didn't know before, PC has a myriad of controller peripherals. There are both Playstaion form and Xbox form controllers for PC as well as several other unique designed controllers both wireless and corded. Not to mention the vast pool of other peripherals for gaming available. Steam is even developing their own specialized controller for PC. Not to mention... I use my TV as my computer screen Secondly, incorrect. Lets say I buy a console $400 and it lasts me 2 years before the next new console I have to have for an additional $400. In that span of 2 years I buy 24 games for $1,440, thats averaging 1 new game per month (obviously not everyone will have 1 new game per month but that allows for expenses of more than 24 games via used games). THat is $1,840 for 2 years being modest and assuming no costly repairs, only 24 games, no monthly online paid service, no extra $60 controllers. My PC cost me $1,100 to build myself, add on 2 years of games bought on steam I have spent... (checks steam) ... roughly $600 for 118 games both new and old. That averages to $5 a game, and yes all games I have bought are on steam in the past 2 years. My PC does not require me to buy any new parts for at least another 4-5 years unless I want to get a second Video card to SLI which will cost me $250 (roughly). So to sum up, console for 2 years with only 24 games, no extra controllers, no online service= $1,840. Computer for 2 years with 118 games = $1,700. And here is the kicker, take that $1,100 off of PC expenses for the next 2 year stretch and I have just vastly paid less than the console gamer. At most I will have to buy a $250 graphics card. That is ofc just a rough estimate, would vary from person to person. Just pointing out that my computer costs + 118 games is quite a bit cheaper than a console for 2 years without anything additional like more controllers or online play. And the thing is... I wont need to upgrade my computer for many years aside from maybe a Video card and perhaps an upgrade to SSD at some point which is optional. Not being argumentative or doing a PC > Console thing, just pointing out my experience on the matter.
I actually expected a response like that, Exa Truth be told, I looked into building a gaming PC for myself, but ultimately I just wasn't willing to pay the price for the parts I was searching for (and also didn't like the idea of putting it all together myself. Which is what I would insist on doing to save money) I may look into it again in the future, but we'll see. I don't like to say consoles are better, but for me personally it is what I prefer. I don't buy that many games each year, and so it's more worth it to me to have a machine that I can pop a disc into and know it will work. I think you're being a bit unfair in saying consoles may only last 2 years, my ps3 lasted from launch until now and still works (had trouble with one newer game, that was it.) If PC game devs started showing love for Linux users, I'd be more interested in PC gaming, as there are some experiences I feel are better on PC, such as RTS games. And I despise windows (especially windows 8 with it's horrid UI) Ultimately though, consoles are what I like, simply because it's easier, and I still think in most cases cheaper. (I'm hard to convince, seen computers break down too many times.) And also for the social aspect, local multiplayer is important to me. (though this is a dying trend, which saddens me.)
I don't really lean towards a certain system to fill my gaming needs, either. I think that they all have their place, but I don't really use my consoles too often. I can't remember the last time I turned on the PS3 or 360. That's not to say that they didn't get a lot of use in their time. Mostly I enjoy PC for gaming and really, it's all about the cost. Yes, both systems release small games in their arcade, but any new game title for a console is a flat sixty bucks. The price for new titles on the PC are usually the same, but you can usually get them cheaper within days on other places online. I also really enjoy the higher-quality graphics that PC can give me comparatively, although it seems many developers insist on lowering their quality for PC versions to match consoles.
This is true, from when the ps3 came out till now my dad has had 2 PS3 and the first one only stopped reading disks and that happened a 2 months before MW2 came out.
Lucky you, I've not had good lucky with consoles life span. The only one that has lasted forever is the N64 XD
I'm psyched for the Xbox and 3DS titles on the way, although I'm severely disappointed at the number of Xbox games getting huge delays(ESO, Dying Light). For the 3DS, looking forward to the Pokemon R/S remakes. Gamefreak never disappoints!
