At that exact same point in time, the Hubble Telescope takes a picture of the star. However, instead of getting a picture of a supernova taking place, only a massive yellow star is photographed. Why? Since Hubble's camera's utilize sensitivity to light in order to form a photograph, the star's light reached Hubble while it was still a giant yellow ball of gas. However, given the millions of light years it took- light years meaning how long it took light to travel in an earth year- by the time the light given off by the star in its younger stage had reached Hubble, the star had already aged and reached it's end of it's life. Later on if Hubble was pointed in the exact same spot for another duration long enough, the telescope would be able to take photos of the explosion millions of years later.
