I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't see anywhere else it would fit. In the last few months I haven't been able to be as active as I was before, so my question may be answered somewhere else or in a different format. I noticed that we now have four different servers which is awesome, but has anyone considered a Feed the Beast / Mindcrack server? I'm not sure how our community feels about the heavily modded versions, but I know the minecraft community in general and myself really enjoy the packs and I would love to play them with our community.
I have my own server running the Direwolf20 pack with a couple extras added like Bibliocraft, but it is only a 10 slot. It is almost always filled with people we know IRL. I just thought it would be an idea to throw out there since the mods are so popular.
I think if we're ever to have a FTB server then it would be fairly private. Think of how many people are on survival, and then try putting all of them onto a highly modded server. Together running 5 servers in total seems a bit much with the amount of people.
It all depends on the direction they want to go with the servers. At first it was just the survival server and the pvp server. Now they have those plus creative and skyblock. Going from two servers to four servers is a much bigger jump than four servers to five.
Haha well I'll have to try that out. That's why I made this thread. I was curious if there possibly already was a server, and I just wasn't aware. Thanks for the info! btw looks like I have to adjust the mindcrack pack, I tried to log on the server and it says I need 11 mods that minecrack doesn't come factory installed with.
well, lets just say... its being considered already I enjoy FTB mindcrack though i've come to dislike it on servers due to many items being banned and restrictions/bugs/lag. Great if you running it with just a small group of friends, not so much with lots of people. On servers i've had ender tanks derp and corrupt my whole storage chunk back to default and lost everything. I've had items derp and crash the server, over and over. I've had machines derp and crash the server over and over. I've had personal anchors keep my stuff loaded even after i log out and my whole energy storage drained over night pointlessly, I've had tanks reset themselves to empty daily for no reason. long story short... better in single player. Servers of this massive collection of mods require a lot of resources and lot of babysitting for every crash and lag creating instances and chunk corruptions... especially if you have a large population.
I can see how that would happen. The server I run is only a 10 slot so there aren't any issues like that but I see what you mean. I played on a tekkit server and a voltz server which both were the size of our survival server and it went good, they just had an automated restart every two hours - although they did have a banned items list with items that created issues like chunk loaders and things that either caused an unusual amount of lag or just created a bug/item duplication method. I just didn't know if it had been discussed or if there was even an interest in it with our community. Glad to see a few have an interest like myself.
