A quick video to show my 3d printer making a Yoda bust, I've made some other interesting items I will share those also Watch Full Screen A 3D print produced on the Makerbot Replicator 3d printer, this print was created using black biodegradable plastic (PLA) with a filament diameter of 1.75mm and was extruded at a temperature of 190 degrees centigrade, the build plate was heated to 60 degrees centigrade, each individual layer height is of 0.26mm, the print took just under 4 hours to complete.
Actually yes it is, I have not tried yet as the procedure uses a custom python export script, which is then converted to a .stl file, which can then be sliced and printed. I do intent to play with this when I get chance.
Ahh I see, yes the printer is a Makerbot Replicator dual head version, the machine was about 2.2k USD, after import costs and shipping to the UK.
Would this help cost wise? http://www.wired.com/design/2013/01/filabot-plastic-recycler/ Just found it on Reddit! (Relevant old-thread revival)
