I know I've spoken to several of you in-game about this, but I figured I should go ahead and post about it to let more people have an idea of what it is. Kiva.org is a non-profit organization that allows users to 'lend' $25 at a time to complete strangers around the world who are located in 3rd world countries. The people requesting these loans are hard working entrepreneurs who have a vision of a better life for them and their families, but need a little help getting there. The coolest thing about Kiva? You actually get your money back. You aren't giving away money to the poor, you're lending someone a few bucks to help them improve their standard of living, and then they happily pay it back.

The world of microfinance (what Kiva does) is one of the coolest things I've ever come across. When I made my first loan on Kiva, it amazed me at how something so simple, letting someone borrow just $25, could seriously change their lives for the better. It's been almost a year since I've started lending with Kiva, and to date I've made quite a few loans to strangers all around the world.

It would really mean a lot if any of you guys reading this could take a look at Kiva.org and all of the good work they do. Maybe even consider giving it a try, and lending $25 to a stranger. Kiva has set up a really neat program that allows people to do their first loan for free to get a feel for how the organization works. Please feel free to check out the following link and give it a go!

    Thanks guys!

I'm really not sharing this for praise from anyone, I just want more people to get involved in the organization that I love.
