Been on a major X3 kick so I thought I'd post about it. X3 is a space sim. Trade/Build/Fight/Explore.
My recent challenge has been what is called Dead is Dead mode. ^^ as you can guess you have 1 life and its saved straight to your steam account so you can't cheat. -.- I can never last more than a day. My latest attempt I found an unmanned M3 class fighter and accepted a kill mission to patrol a core sector (Queen's Harbor). The mission said it was going to be very easy :D so I'm thinking easy money. O.O dear gods I was wrong,... god engine spawned a random raiding fleet of Xenon Fighters led by a Xenon Q (Heavy Cruiser) -.- I was just sitting there waiting for my mission spawn when dozens of red ships appear behind me and my screen's filled will weapon fire and missile warnings _._ fml. I see the Game Over sign only moments after my ship is turned to swiss. I really hate Q's

But other than moments like that the game is fun ^^ in my normal game I've completed enough of the Terran mission to have my Cutlass and a following of 4 Xenon L's, 3 Pirate Novas, 1 Advanced Barracuda, 2 Pirate Susanowas, and 2 Gladiators. The Gladiators are almost never needed since my fleet of Fighters make quick work of hourly Cruiser kills. But when a Heavy cruiser is in a system with nothing to kill it I bring out the Missile frigates to spam 20 tomahawk missiles at it. I'm always outfitting abandoned ships from pirate, yaki, or xenon defense missions and haven't been able to save up much for station investment other than a Medium Silicon mine. I have 4-5 salvaged haulers all trading Energy cells, Silicone wafers or Ore when I'm not blowing holes in something. I still can't resist the urge to head out to Pirate space and wait for a race I'm normaly in good terms with loaded with something pricey and coax it into letting me carry its cargo ^^ the rep loss is easily replaced and often worth the effort.
It's fun but unlike Eve online its only 1 player.
