These are just a selection of web sites where you can find really good, and version specific up-to-date mods. If you want a few standard mods that many Minecraft players use and will make your game play much easier and enjoyable then here you go!
Cape Mod - Just type "Minecraft cape mod" into google and you will find a link, when you have downloaded you can have your own custom Minecraft cape on your minecraft account.
Improved chat (IC) - This is a chat mod which allows you to add key binds to your game! Just google "Minecraft Improved chat" and you will find many sites which have the most up-to-date IC version!

MinecraftServer.com Events, what is an event? - A event is when people get together to undertake a task or to just have fun and play minecraft together working towards a common goal!
Why do we undertake events on the MinecraftServer.com? - It gives players huge entertainment when another player holds a server wide event, also, in game prizes can be won.
There are plently of events coming up on our server, SpLoDiN WaRz, Mod Hunts, Mob Battles, Hide & Seek and lots more!
How to get to events?
At spawn there is a Event-Hub, this has lots of stargates to lots of future/previous events that are there to do/look at, for some events you must sign up on our forums. (http://www.minecraftserver.com/forum/) and submit a application there.
To make a event happen you will need a few things!
Resiliance, your event may not work out first time but keep trying.
Enthusiasm, be happy that your holding a event and try to get everyone involved.
Time, for lots of events you must have time to play/run them.
Make sure you are having fun, If you are having fun whilst holding a event, others will have fun.
We are now on a Minecraft server top list, help yourself and help the server, the higher we climb up the list the more new players will visit the server.
As part of my promotional drive we will be offering everybody the chance to earn in game gold ingots at a rate of 15 gold ingots per day per vote by voting for the server. You can only vote once in a 24 hour period. You just need to vote for our server, by clicking the link below. You get awarded in game the 15 gold ingots even if you are logged in or not, however you do need to input your minecraft user name exactly when voting.

SpLoDiN WaRz
"Can you own your freinds and be the best team? Who will win and who will be EXPLODED!?"
Splodin Warz is a all out PvP server event. Users will be required to work as a team to try and explode the other 3 teams, while guarding thier own base. A arena preview is open and applications are too.
But don't want those skins? Want a total unique skin? Watch this video and post in the comments below the time of the video that you see a good skin at, i will then post the name of the skin and where you can find and download it!
There are several websites and programs you can use to make your own skins, the main one i use currently is www.skindex.com, you can browse through hundreds of skins and then even edit out or add bits you don't like! Or you can start from scratch, the best part is.. Its totally free!
Jolicraft 1.1 is a texture pack that is aiming for a "jolly" look for Minecraft. You can customize this texture pack by going to the link at the bottom of the page. It is also a texture pack that many players on our server currently use (minecraftserver.com) and I have had very good feedback from them.

Drag the zip file you downloaded into your texturepacks folder.
Texture packs folder can be found > start > run > %appdata% > .minecraft > texturepacks.
Or just run Minecraft and Press Mods and Texture Packs, then press open Texture Packs folder.
Always wanted to learn how to use Redstone to its full "power" but you do not know the basics? Well thats why I am here, below I will list the basic functions of certain Redstone items and also a video which will take you through the basic Redstone facts you need to know.
Redstone Wire
Mined from a Redstone ore with a iron pickaxe or higher.
You can place Redstone 15 times in one direction from its power source until you must have a new power source or a diode (repeater).
Redstone can not be place up the sides of blocks but will connect if there is 1 wire on top and 1 wire on the bottom.
You can find Redstone on most levels but the prime level is 36.
Redstone Torch
Redstone torches can be crafted like a normal torch but replace the coal with Redstone wire.
A Redstone torch is a continous power output and will refresh the Redstone wire for another 15 blocks.
Redstone torches will power the block above them and one block next to that powered block.
Diode (Redstone Repeater)
Mainly use to build circuits and can be compacted so the circuit is smaller
There are three settings on a Diode; Fast, Medium and Slow. Once you place the Diode it will start on fast but by hitting the end of the Diode you can change the state.
Once the circuit is activated by a lever, button or a pressure plate it will keep repeating until you stop it by removing a Redstone wire or flicking the switch.
If you place a diode at the 14th wire it will refresh the current so it can carry on for another 15 blocks.
