How To Install Minecraft 1.9 Prerelease 6: (Windows)
1. Press the ‘Windows’ key on your keyboard and the ‘R’ key at the same time
2. Now type %appdata%
3. Locate your .minecraft folder
4. Navigate down into to your bin folder located inside the .minecraft folder
5. Right click on the file named minecraft and rename it minecraftold
5. Download the new minecraft.jar and drag or copy to the bin folder.
6. Run Minecraft as normal to play prerelease 6 of Minecraft 1.9
How To Restore Minecraft 1.8.1 (Windows)
1. Press the ‘Windows’ key on your keyboard and the ‘R’ key at the same time
2. Now type %appdata%
3. Locate your .minecraft folder
4. Navigate down into to your bin folder located inside the .minecraft folder
5. Delete the file named minecraft
5. Select the file named minecraftold right click and select rename change to minecraft
6. Run Minecraft as normal to play Minecraft 1.8.1 again

Jeb recently tweeted Minecraft 1.9 prerelease 5 is out for testing! It doesn't add new features, but a lot of changes!
Changes:
- Block of iron texture is changed.
- You now have mushroom biome grass in your creative inventory.
- Fence Posts no longer connect to leaves.
- More achievements.
- Annoying Stair glitch fixed.
- Option to disable clouds in menu.
- F6 = smooth walking It seems to allow you to fly strait but not up or down (works on survival). It acts as a noclip, lets you go through blocks... Your Y co-ordinate doesn't change.
- F9 Adds a fixed camera angle. ( You can move this with I, J, K, and L)

You might have seen this login error several times today and in the past, the cause of the ‘took too long to log in’ error is Mojang (Notch’s) server is down, the purpose of this player name authentication server is to deal with client logins and authorisation requests, On minecraftserver.com we use the online-mode=true server.properties flag and every time you connect to our SMP server it performs a call back check with the Minecraft.net authorisation servers to confirm you are indeed who you say you are, this protects our server from players spoofing the player names and gaining access when they should not be able.
Many pirate Minecraft servers run with the online-mode=false, this allows users with pirated Minecraft clients to connect to their servers, without ever having brought the game from Mojang.
A quick way to verify if Minecraft.net is having issues is to check either Jeb's or Mollstam's twitter feeds as they will normally post about long term issues relating to ‘Can’t connect to Minecraft.net’ issues.

Jeb recently released Minecraft 1.9 prerelease 4, so grab the download now ready for some weekend Minecrafting fun! The prerelease sadly doesn't include Ender dragons, but this update contains a lot of new content:
Moon/Sun are round. Moon has phases.
Glistering Melon added. Crafted with Melon and Gold Nugget. Non-edible.
From Jeb: The exit from "The End" is the end. Then you respawn.
Cutting up melon gives you 1 melon slice. Bug.
Ender dragons skins exist.
"The End" is the new realm.
Water freezes faster.
Enchantment Table now has a tooltip name on creative mode.
The potion of swiftness now leaves a visible effect on the player.
Gold sword right click spawns an EnderDragon, right click of diamond sword teleports you to "The End".

Now that Ender Dragons are going to be introduced, here is a video preview of what the new Ender Dragons are capable of! The dragons seem to have a good working animation, better than the Ghasts. Look at the damage they can cause, this is the main reason Ender Dragons won't be added to the main world, but for all those that wanted dragons in the real world, Notch said on twitter recently he is going to add another dragon to the main world, a red dragon that is not destructive.
Good news Jeb has just released the new download of Minecraft 1.9 prerelease 3! It comes with a host of new features and also with some bug fixes. Its really starting to look like this is going to be great when 1.9 is official, if you are impatient you can download and try now, remember it will probably still have some bugs.
